Crewe’s young people are at the heart of The Dome—and they’ve been involved from the very beginning. This isn’t just a space for them, it’s being created by them. They play a pivotal role in the decision-making, from the activities and programmes to the facilities inside, nothing is off-the-shelf. Everything is shaped around what local young people actually want, making sure The Dome reflects their needs, passions, and ideas.
We have a group of dedicated and dynamic young people who meet every week at sessions run by youth workers, to share their ideas on what they want The Dome to be. The group has already driven key decisions, including working with a branding agency to develop the brand, which saw young people across Crewe vote on the new name. And their voices will keep shaping The Dome. As the project moves forward, this group will keep leading the way, helping shape decisions on everything from interior design to staff recruitment.

Being a part of the Young People’s Development Group is your chance to find out more about The Dome Youth Zone and share your thoughts on what will make the Youth Zone the best it can be for the young people of south Crewe.
As a member of the YPDG you can expect to:
- Go on trips including visits to open Youth Zones
- Support with fundraising for the Youth Zone
- Be involved in recruitment & involvement in interviewing staff/volunteers
- Represent The Dome at community events
- Get creative, helping to choose the brand & interior visuals
- Collect the views of other young people
- Become an ambassador and champion your Youth Zone

The Dome is your space. It’s being built for you and we want it to actually feel like it, which means you get a say in how it works, not just adults deciding for you.
We’re already planning what’s next and we want your ideas before we lock anything in. What’s missing? What activities would make you actually want to come here? What would make it better?
