Massey Feeds joins businesses investing in East Cheshire’s young people

Massey Feeds has become the latest local business to invest in the future of Crewe’s young people by becoming a Founder Patron of The Dome Youth Zone.

The family business, with nearly 150 years’ experience, joins a fast-expanding group of other businesses and philanthropists making contributions to the new charity’s annual running costs. Founder Patrons of The Dome Youth Zone are helping create an incredible new space for young people, offering state-of-the-art facilities, new opportunities, and support from dedicated youth workers.

Set to open in 2026, The Dome Youth Zone is an independent charity with a private sector-led board. It will become part of the expanding OnSide Network of 16 Youth Zones nationwide, supporting over 50,000 young people every year. Youth Zones are open to young people aged between eight and 19 (and up to 25 for those with additional needs), seven days a week. Young people who sign up will have access to an indoor climbing wall, four court sports hall, training kitchen, music room with a recording studio, fully equipped gym, boxing suite, dance and drama studio, 3G kick pitch, arts and crafts room, and enterprise and employability suite.

As well as these amazing, state-of-the-art facilities, dedicated volunteers and trained youth workers will be available seven days a week to offer support and guidance, helping Crewe and East Cheshire’s young people to reach their potential. The Youth Zone will also benefit the wider community and create permanent full and part-time jobs, as well as many volunteering opportunities.

Massey Feeds is a family business with deep roots in Holmes Chapel, Preston and Holsworthy. They first became interested after hearing about how The Dome will provide transformational support to thousands of young people, inspiring them to live healthy lifestyles. After visiting Warrington Youth Zone and seeing their allotment and training kitchen, teaching young people about growing and cooking food, they made the decision to become Founder Patrons.

When asked about the new partnership with The Dome Youth Zone, Kynan Massey, Managing Director at Massey Feeds said:

“We are proud to become a Founding Patron of The Dome Youth Zone in Crewe. As a family business with nearly 150 years of history, it has always been important to us to support our local communities and invest in the next generation of young people. The Dome Youth Zone is such an exciting project that will help create a positive environment where young people can develop new skills, build confidence through mentorship, and be inspired for the future.”

Stuart Manifould, The Dome Youth Zone CEO, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Massey Feeds to the growing family of The Dome Founder Patrons. Support from our local businesses is vital to bring our Youth Zone to life, but also shows a real willingness to invest in their local areas and build on their future workforces.”

Commenting on the partnership, The Dome Youth Zone Chair, Graham Ramsbottom said:

“It is wonderful to see Massey Feeds’ commitment to their local community and to Crewe’s young people. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest Founder Patron, and to extend my heartfelt thanks for their support and generosity.”

As with all OnSide’s Youth Zones, The Dome has a Young People’s Development Group – which is a group of local young people who have engaged with the Youth Zone since its announcement, and – supported by dedicated youth workers – play a key role in shaping the Youth Zone’s future. Currently they are sharing their ideas on the design of the site’s hoardings, to get the community excited about the Youth Zone, and are also taking part in regular music workshops.

The Dome Youth Zone is being delivered in partnership with OnSide, Cheshire East Council and supported by several businesses and philanthropists. The Founder Patron campaign aims to achieve long-term sustainability, to ensure The Dome Youth Zone will be an asset to the community, transforming young people’s lives for generations to come.

OnSide needs support from partners like Massey Feeds to ensure that the doors of The Dome Youth Zone open to a first class offering. If you would like to support young people living in Cheshire East, please contact: ellen.birchenough@thedomeyouthzone.org
